There's a seat at our table for you...Position Summary:Gordon Food Service is hiring an Food Safety Quality Assurance Specialist. Leads GFS supplier community engagement and drives accountability for compliance to food safety and quality expectations and company goals. Participates in cross-functional teams and projects to provide support, expertise and solutions on supplier expectations and engagement to drive value to the business. Responsible for development, maintenance and continuous improvement of GFS Food Safety Supplier audit program, including regulatory compliance programs for foreign suppliers. Coordinates, develops, and executes responses and/or reporting for supplier food safety related projects and requests. Shares primary responsibility for executing product recalls during and after business hours and on weekends. Coordinates, develops, and executes responses and/or reporting for food safety related projects and requests. Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of the supplier compliance program, including Supplier Assessment program, Private brand supplier third party audit program, Foreign supplier verification programs to ensure accountability and compliance to regulatory and GFS standards. Ensures adequacy of programs, identifying and driving to opportunities for continuous improvement and a broadened North American scope.
  • Executes the tracking, technical review and follow-up of Supplier 3rd Party Audit program and owns program development and continuous improvement.
  • Develops supplier assessment program, including scorecards, key performance indicators and criteria for compliance to food safety, quality and GFS performance, ensuring that the data is relevant and visible to stakeholders to support informed business decisions.
  • Develops supplier Food Fraud program, including risk ranking and interventions.
  • Responsible for review and approval of all new foreign suppliers and items (US, and Canada) to ensure compliance with FDA Food Safety Modernization Act and CFIA Safe Food for Canadians regulation.
  • Acts as an FSQA supplier subject matter expert, participating in cross-functional initiatives and projects to provide support, expertise and solutions on GFS supplier engagement, collaboration and compliance (e.g., FDA Food Traceability Rule Compliance, ERP system, Recall Communication Tool, etc)
  • Develops and owns the Gordon Food Service Supplier 3rd Party Audit Program. Supports issues resolution for non-conforming suppliers and audits. Leads the ongoing assessments of the adequacy of GFS supplier audit program.
  • Leads quality issue resolution on identified non-conforming suppliers; products as necessary to support the team and drive supplier compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for development and/or revisions to systems-related Quality Manual documents and ensure they are communicated to the appropriate stakeholders (Intranet, Website, Email, etc) Provides quality systems support and training to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Shared primary responsibility for executing product recalls both during and after business hours and on weekends. This includes managing the entire recall process, from product isolation to customer communication, in addition to any follow-up communication with regulatory agencies. Executes traceability activities in support of regulatory requests.
  • Leads investigation and communication plan to respond to recalls occurring in the industry.
  • Supports reporting for Vendor Business Reviews (VBRs), Category Market Reviews (CMRs) by analyzing available supplier metrics and engaging QA teammates for feedback, as necessary.
  • Develops approach and ensures availability of routine reports for Vendor Business Reviews (VBR), the Vendor Involvement Process (VIP), Quarterly Specification reporting, Supplier Assessments, and other reporting necessary to support business needs.Our Ideal candidate will have:
    • Proven record of successful collaborative project management
    • Strong business acumen and ability to influence stakeholders and gain buy in
    • Three to five years of previous experience in quality assurance, quality control and/or food safety is required. Experience in food manufacturing, quality control process management and data reporting/analysis is preferred.
    • Certification in Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), HACCP, GFSI (Preferred)
    • Must have strong math aptitude, including the ability to perform statistical analysis.
    • Must be detail-oriented and display good project management and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to prioritize, and schedule accordingly, on own multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be comfortable with swift change in daily routine to address urgent matters.
    • Must possess and display excellent written and verbal communications skills.Experience:
      • Bachelor degree preferred Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics or related scientific field
      • Three to five years of previous experience in quality assurance, quality control and/or food safety is required. Experience in food manufacturing, quality control process management and data reporting/analysis is preferred.
      • In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered.Location:
